Short version: the mods work on your own computer. Nothing is collected about you unless you choose to share a clip, and nothing is ever sold. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Here's exactly what goes where.

Frameback

Your recordings and clips are saved on your computer only. Frameback doesn't send your gameplay, clips or any usage data anywhere on its own.
If you install FFmpeg (the video tool Frameback needs) from inside the mod, it's downloaded from its official builders: gyan.dev or GitHub on Windows, and martin-riedl.de on macOS. Those sites see a normal download request.

Sharing a clip

Only when you press Share link, Frameback uploads:
  • •the clip's video and a preview image, to catbox.moe (a free file host). Anyone with the file's address can view it, and it stays there: catbox doesn't let us delete uploads.
  • •a small record to this website so the clip gets its page: the link to the video and preview, your Minecraft username, the server name, the Minecraft version, the clip's length and the date. Anyone with the clip's link can see these.
If you want a shared clip's page taken down, ask on the Discord with its link.
To stop spam, the website briefly counts how many shares and reports come from each visitor. It stores a scrambled one-way code made from your IP address, never the address itself, and forgets it after an hour (30 days for reports, so the same person can't report one clip over and over).

Spotify Island

It reads what's playing from the Spotify app (or your system's media controls) on your computer, to show it in game. That stays on your computer.
  • •Lyrics (if on): the song's title, artist, album and length are sent to lrclib.net to find its lyrics. Found lyrics are saved on your computer so each song is only looked up once.
  • •Online cover fallback (if on): when Spotify doesn't give a cover, the song's title and artist are sent to Apple's iTunes search to find it.
Both can be turned off in Spotify Island's settings. No Spotify login is used.

Lite Tiers

To show tiers, Lite Tiers looks up the players around you (on the server you're on, or whoever you search with /lt):
  • •Players' Minecraft IDs are sent to pvptiers.com, subtiers.net and pvphq.com, and their usernames to mcpvp.com, but only for the lists you show (all four when you open a player card).
  • •Each list's kit icons are downloaded from those sites, and skins for player cards come from Mojang. Searching a name that isn't on your server asks Mojang for its Minecraft ID.
Results, icons and skins are saved on your computer so each player is only looked up now and then. Nothing about you is sent anywhere else, and Clear cache in the settings deletes it all.

This website

No cookies, no analytics and no ads. When you download a mod, we count it (just a number per file, nothing about you).
Your browser remembers which update you've already seen so the update pop-up doesn't keep showing. That's stored only in your browser.
The site is hosted on Vercel, which, like any host, briefly logs requests (such as IP address and browser) to run and protect the service. Shared-clip records and download counts are stored with Upstash.

Kids, changes and contact

The mods and website don't ask for personal information like your name, email or age. Players under 13 shouldn't share clips that show anything about themselves.
If what we collect changes, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes.

Questions? Ask on the Frameback Discord.
